Nancy and Larry

Meet the authors and creators-

November 1997

I have always enjoyed the Victorian era and now for the first time I am able to enjoy it even more through the development of this site. My husband, Larry, is my inspiration. Without his HTML knowledge and constant help this site would not exist. I have been happily married since Sept. 26th, 1992.

Our wedding had a Victorian theme (who would have guessed?). When Larry and I first met he had little knowledge of Victorian home decorating but he has graciously accepted and come to appreciate the warmth it inspires. We redecorated our bedroom with teal & maroon as the color theme. While at a crafts fair Larry was the one to discover a beautiful Victorian floral and grapevine wall hanging which we have above our bed. It definitely adds a lovely accent to the room.

Designing websites and surfing the net is more my husbands forte than mine but I fear it is definitely rubbing off on me. I am an avid reader of Victoria Magazine. I enjoy all arts and crafts, and reading. If you haven't already guessed, Larry's favorite hobby is the computer. When he is not on the computer he enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar and keyboard.

May, 1998
We have come a long way since this site was first created in November. We started off with a traditional homepage in mind, but have since found ourselves developing a web site.

My great love of the Victorian era keeps me reading and researching for new features. I am fortunate that Larry and I work well together as a team. I come up with the ideas and he makes them come to life. Through his patience and tutelage, I have learned a great deal about HTML and graphic design. Of course Corel Web Designer and Adobe Photoshop had a little to do with it also.

Unfortunately, the more creative my thinking becomes the more work it involves. Larry's analytical mind starts spinning, the reference books come off the shelf, and a new page is born. My problem, or I should say Larry's problem, is two-fold. On the one hand I want to use the latest and greatest technology to make this site more interesting (and show off Larry's talents) but on the other hand I don't want to lose the old fashioned Victorian feel.

Larry and I strive to make this site enjoyable for all viewers whether they are Netscape or Internet Explorer users however, we are not always successful. But we trudge onward and upward and get a real pleasure sharing our site with the internet world.

If you have experienced any difficulties with this site we would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know.

January 1999

Well a whole year has passed and so have 30,000 visitors who have shared alot of comments and suggestions and we appreciate them all.  Our visitors range from students researching school projects to people investigating the origins of their homes.  We even have had people who are writing books request information.

I am so pleased that this site has grown the way it has.  So many people benefit from it and enjoy it that it makes the endless hours of research and graphic work all worth while.  Having a hobby is one thing but, being able to share it with thousands of people makes it so much more important.  I feel honored that viewers seek our advice and appreciate the time and effort it takes to create these pages.

A website such as this does not come from a scanner and a software program-- it comes from the heart.  It is created with devotion to the subject and the desire to create an environment that captures the true essence of the theme.

We grew out of our old space on the net and when we moved we decided to do a full makeover.  We have added some  great new features  to the site.  We also have started our own web design and computer consulting business.

To all the visitors from 1998 we say thank you for your gracious compliments.   The year 1999 is going to be a great one.

December 1999

Here we are with another year gone by and we have once again done a full makeover.  We have been very busy designing web sites and promoting our new Victorian Shopping Mall , which by the way,  has been a great success.  The mall was created because you, our guests, were searching for products to help you in decorating your homes with a true Victorian flair.

We have expanded our interior design section and created a whole new section for restoration information.  We truly hope our new additions will further enhance our site and bring you the information you seek.

We will be adding a section that deals with Associations, hopefully from around the globe, who can offer you assistance with regard to restoration and interior design.  We strongly believe in preserving the beautiful craftsmanship of the Victorian era and are endlessly striving to find new ways to help others do the same.

We all know the new millennium will bring us faster computers, faster transportation and better communication technology but let us not forget the creative and inventive minds of the past.  Their dedication to creating beauty, whether it be architectural, musical or literary, will live on if we let it.

September 2000

We are proud to say that the new millennium has been good to us.  We have received an award from Encyclopedia Britannica and are included in a CD Rom program that puts our website into 2,000 schools on the East Coast.  We were also graced with a listing on the PBS site with regard to their series called the 1900 House.  I hope some of you saw the series, it was quite interesting

We have helped hundreds of people with their decorating questions and have added our own restoration expert to answer those difficult building questions. Eric, from the Blue Ox Millworks, has graciously offered his time and expertise so we are able to offer our "Ask the Wizard" section.

We can't possibly have all the answers to every question but we do our best to help every person that writes to us.

October 2001

The years go by so quickly that we all wonder where the time goes. We tend to look back and say "what have I accomplished?" We at Victorian Station can say, at the least, that we have accomplished the fine art of helping others achieve their goals. Whether it is writing a term paper, decorating their home or just learning more about the wonderful achievements that transpired during the Victorian era, we have supplied them with the information they seek.

Our website and our web design company were created to enlighten the world to basic simple pleasures of art, history, honest workmanship and creativity. We spend countless hours helping people to achieve their dreams, creating a website that truly represents who they are and educating the many students who write in with questions.

I know we sound a little unique but that is who we truly are. The overwhelming response from our visitors, 9,000 to 13,000 per month, keeps us striving to add more to our site.

Victorian Station, the company, started in 1998 because we saw a demand on the Internet that was not being met and our visitors were nicely demanding answers to their questions regarding interior design. We take great pride in accomplishing #1 rating with the top search engines under Victorian decorating. These ratings are accomplished not by paying for them but by shear volume of traffic and satisfied visitors.

The year 2002 is upon us, and we are still reeling from the terrible tragedies of Sept 11th, but art, creativity and human kindness transpires all and so we all continue.

All of us at Victorian Station wish to thank all of you for your continued support and look forward to helping all those who will come.

This site is dedicated to all our guests, past, present and future.
